Fossil, founded in 1984 and located in Texas, used to be known for their retro designs and low entry prices. However, in 2001 Fossil acquired Zodiac, a Swiss watch manufacturer, to give them a high end model, and further expanded on this by purchasing Michele Watch in 2004.

Fossil brands include Relic, Abacus, Michele Watch, and Zodiac. Their own successes have prompted many other companies to come to them for designs – including Burberry, DKNY, Emporio Armani, Columbia Sportswear, Callaway Golf, and many others. However, although Fossil is regarded as a manufacturer of watches, they actually only assemble watches using pre-made movements and self-designed cases and dials.

Fossil also has a line of collectible watches, including a team watch for each NFL team, Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Elvis Presley, Pirates of the Caribbean, Pokemon, and much more.
